(111) Exploring Rep Weave and Its New Variations ~ FULL

In this workshop, participants will learn the many applications of rep weave–a weave that is inspired by traditional block weaves such as shadow, honeycomb, krokbragd, and warp/weft rep. Weaving both classic and nontraditional methods on 3 to 8 shaft looms will be covered. Extended exploration of rep variations and modifications during the pandemic lockdown have resulted in interesting outcomes both in the front and the underside of the cloth. This workshop allows weavers with some knowledge of rep weave to study these new techniques.

Every loom will be set up in advance with a draft of your choice, using a variety of warp material, sett, and technique. We will study each participant’s sampler, through drafting and color interactions. For record keeping, participants may be willing to share samples or permit photographs. In addition, a large selection of finished pieces will be available for individual to study. Students will go home with a complete portfolio of all the drafts used in the workshop (about 12).
