(144) Ikat I: Introduction to Ikat

This class provides a visual and historical overview of the ikat technique as it has been practiced in different cultural and global textile centers over the ages. Mary will present a ‘Cliff Notes’ version of her new book, Ikat: The Essential Guide to Weaving Resist-Dyed Cloth. This class is presented in a lecture format with no materials or equipment required. Both the warp and weft techniques will be demonstrated as we examine and discuss the unique signature of ikat fabric.
