This is an intensive workshop centered on precision fiber color mixing. The purpose is to gain a deeper understanding of color theory and learn how to use optical blending in wool to intentionally create your own custom colors through structured, measurable methods. This rigorous, hands-on workshop focuses on calculated blending using hand carders, exact gram measurements, and ratio-based formulas to produce consistent, repeatable results.
You will study color perception, optical blending, and how depth of shade impacts mixture outcomes. Working with both traditional (Red, Blue, Yellow) and modern (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow) primary systems, you will construct secondary blends, value scales, and structured color-mixing charts. Using a personal inspirational photograph, you will extract key hues, calculate custom blends, and needle felt a Color Journal that documents swatches, ratios, and formulas for continued studio reference.
