About

The MidAtlantic Fiber Association, or MAFA, is a 501c3 organization that was formed in 1981 to promote communication, cooperation and education among the fiber groups of the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

The basis for MAFA, since our beginning, has been our  biennial fiber arts conference, which is still held in early summer in odd-numbered years. Unique in offering in-depth workshop experiences, the conference provides a nurturing environment within which attendees focus on developing and honing fiber skills under the direction of world renowned fiber arts instructors.

To broaden our educational reach, we have added MAFA Virtual, our online learning platform. Through MAFA Virtual we hold workshops throughout the year which are accessible across our entire geographic area from your home computer.

Although MAFA is best known for its conference, the all-volunteer, not-for-profit organization also provides ongoing financial grantsfellowships and scholarships, to promote education, development and public outreach in the fiber arts.
