Have you ever wanted to try weaving pick-up design patterns but did not know where to start? Maybe you have tried and desire more experience. This “next steps” inkle band weaving workshop will introduce you to two pick-up techniques: Baltic style and horizontal stripe pick-up, on one warp. You will weave a sampler band to explore both techniques.
Day one: you will learn all about horizontal bar pick-up. Single, paired, and block designs will be covered. Day two: you will learn how to weave Baltic or speckled pick-up designs. Day 3: students will explore creating their own designs.
During the class, tips will be given for weaving clear and crisp motifs, how to manage float lengths, maintaining band width and more. Learning these techniques will put you on your way to being able to weave an endless array of beautiful designs. If a weaver can warp independently, and confidently weave a plain weave inkle band, this class is an appropriate next step. For the advanced beginner and beyond.
