This workshop is for those of you who know how to spin but never got the hang of how to spin consistent superfine lace, or cobweb, with different types of animal fiber. You will learn to spin fibers from several different breeds, look at raw fleeces, and recognize what characteristics will be easy or challenging to process and spin, develop your eye to choose the best fleece for you at the fleece sale at Sheep and Wool festivals or directly from farmers, sort and prepare your fleece for best result in fine lace.
The first day will focus on sheep’s wool. The second day will be alpaca. The third day is focused on spinning. Bring your favorite fiber if you want feed-back or guidance. Bring your favorite equipment to spin on.

$50 covers combed top of 3 different sheep's wool, alpaca, and at least one luxury fiber, washed fiber from some of the fleeces we will analyze.

Learning, teaching, and the sharing of knowledge has always been important to Thomas Victor. He grew up on a small farm where there was a need to know the basics of many crafts and materials. Starting his professional career with a MFA in music education, dance, and theater, he gained a solid foundation in breaking down the complex to the simple steps needed, and how play and mistakes in hands-on exploration is necessary to understand enough to advance one’s own work.
