203 Worsted to Woolen, Smooth to Textured

203 Worsted to Woolen, Smooth to Textured

If you want to be a better spinner, this class will help. We’ll start with true worsted spinning and by changing one small thing at a time, we’ll cover each and every draft until we are spinning the most woolen yarn possible. Topic covered will include:

  • Short forward draft, short backwards draft (with/without twist between your hands), from the fold, supported long draw, double-draft long draw, and unassisted long draw.
  • Why each draft is best (and not so best) for and why you’d do each one.
  • Learn how to change the diameter of our yarn and stay consistent.
  • Explore the fiber preparation needed for each draft but also how you can branch out of those preparations to make an entire host of “semi” yarns.
  • Plying and finishing and how it’s different for woolen and worsted yarns.

Finally, we’ll dip our toe into some textured yarns and talk about how they can help grow your over-all spinning skills. No matter where you are in spinning, this class will make you better.
