119 Tablet Weaving from Zero to Sulawesi

You will learn to read your cards and master the fundamentals of tablet weaving in a fun and comprehensible way. The class begins with a pre-made “rainbow warp” designed to reveal the mechanics of tablet weaving. Then you will learn the geometric 4×4, and its cousin Coptic Diamonds, before culminating with the elegant and flexible Sulawesi.

Each day features a new band, and a progression of exercises that build understanding. Instruction will cover how to follow pattern drafts, read designs off a band, and design patterns. Students will learn to make their own warps, and get tips about all aspects of tablet weaving. This workshop is excellent for those with some tablet weaving experience who want a deeper understanding of how it works, but is designed to also be approachable for brand new weavers.

Instructor Bio

Creating textiles brings Stacy Schlutsmeyer joy. Of all the fiber arts she has done, tablet weaving has captured her heart with the complex possibilities that arise from very simple tools. She has been a teacher for most of her life, and loves to see students light up when a new concept “clicks”. She aspires to make tablet weaving comprehensible and fun. She has taught at Convergence, ANWG Conference, Red Alder Fiber Arts, and various guilds. She has been published in Little Looms.
