Gay McGeary

Gay McGeary has been researching and weaving coverlets for 30 years and counterpanes for five. Fascinated with 19th century coverlet and counterpane patterns and weave structures, she uses her research as her inspiration for her artistic interpretations. While the inspiration for her designs originates with early coverlet weaving and counterpanes, she finds that her weaving software is an invaluable design tool.

Gay has led workshops and given presentations of her research and weaving for local and state guilds, Complex Weavers Seminar, and MidAtlantic Fiber Association. She contributes articles about her weaving to Complex Weavers Journal, Shuttle, Shuttle & Dyepot, and the Early American Coverlet Study Group.
