(710) Making Handstitched Brooches

Students will learn how to make brooches using a range of fabrics, stitches, and beads. The brooch is a soft sculpture finished with a pin back that can be worn on clothing. The class will include some embroidery, attaching beads, and other decorative elements.

The process includes creating a template, embroidering/embellishing the base fabric, sewing the back, stuffing, attaching the pin back.

$20 covers base fabric, fabric scraps, thread/yarns for embellishing, beads, sewing thread, needles, backing fabric. stuffing/batting, pin backs, glue

Student Supplies:

  • Any fabrics/threads/beads/buttons with sentimental meaning to use on brooch
  • Embroidery hoop
