Curious to learn how to spin your own yarn with a spinning wheel or e-spinner? This workshop offers an introduction to wheel mechanics, fiber tools, and the fascinating world of fibers.
Learn how to spin different fibers by sampling various types and techniques to discover your favorites We’ll cover essential tips and methods, aiming to equip you with the confidence to craft your own handspun yarn.
Key topics include:
-Wheel mechanics and maintenance
-Fiber types and preparation
-Spinning and drafting techniques
-Plying basics
New to spinning? It’s recommended that you have your wheel checked by an experienced spinner prior to the workshop for optimal performance. For example if you have a local spinning guild or shop, have someone check that the wheel is working properly. Rental wheels will be available as well. E-spinners are welcome.

Student Supplies:
- Spinning wheel (check to make sure it’s in working condition)
- Spinning wheel oil
- Lazy kate (if learning to ply is desired, tensioned kate is preferred)
- One empty bobbin with leader (3 bobbins if learning how to ply is desired)
