L. Jean West: Peacock Expressions – Jewelry & Wearable Fiber Art
Wednesday Volunteer Lunches
I have created jewelry for over 31 years using various beadwork and metalwork techniques: bead crochet, bead loom weaving, brick stitch, herringbone weave, netting, peyote stitch, right angle weave, bead embroidery, bead stringing and most recently wire weaving and anodizing niobium metal techniques.
I create one-of-a-kind and limited production jewelry for sale and for exhibition. I also do custom commission pieces. In all of the work that I do I find that the exploration of color and the contrast of texture is what challenges me to explore new designs and techniques. In the future I am exploring ways to combine my jewelry with my wearable art woven clothing.
As a member of one of the original fiber guilds who created the MAFA in 1980 and organized the first 1981 MAFA Conference at Rider College, Lawrenceville, NJ, it is important to me to sponsor the volunteer luncheon to honor all the volunteers who will make the 2025 Conference happen.
