Lucienne Coifman

Lucienne Coifman started weaving over 40 years ago and quickly made it a full-time occupation. She has taught weaving for the past 30 plus years at the Guilford Art Center, the Creative Art Workshop in New Haven, and in her own studio. She has also conducted many workshops throughout the Northeast, the Midwest, and at the last four Convergences.

For the past 30 years Luciennne has been studying and developing new ways to use Rep weave and other related warp-faced weaves, experimenting with the use of many different fibers in the process. Her main interest has centered on color interactions and patterns on looms with up to 8 harnesses and using pick-up techniques when needed.

Her weavings have appeared in Shuttle, Spindle and Dyepot and Handwoven and have been included in many juried exhibits. Her book, Rep, Rips, Reps Weaves (2015), is a complete workshop for both beginning and advanced weavers.
